so, i thought let's make something out of this journal, and even if it's just that one time. i'm not much of a writer, especially not in a language that's not my own. hope you forgive me the spelling mistakes i make. also, my keyboard isn't working properly, especially on the right side. every now and then there might be an S, R or D missing.
today, besides putting together visbot #16, i had a look at nemoorange's work. in fact i read every commment of all the presets in his packs. i always liked the fact, he's giving some background on what he's working on, why he's working on it. stuff like that, you know. who's this nemo guy anyway? i don't remember when he first stepped into the scene, maybe he was there before i got in. who knows? for sure, nemo has been doing avs for a very long time. maybe not exactly a first generation avs'er (i don't like that word!), but also not second generation. something in between maybe, just like myself. while reading the comments in the presets, i sometimes remembered reading them before, sometimes i smiled (he calls me yatmeister at some point - lol). i felt proud, when he writes, that i inspired him in this or that preset. hard to imagine, his stuff is so much more advanced than mine! when i think of it, if i could choose to be any other person doing avs - i'd be nemo! his stuff is smooth, colorful, stylish. you need to check his packs, if you're into avs:
skies fall in
slumberland
somner ilicidad
scenery
sights
at some point, we all ended up in the visbot team, which is probably where we all got to know each other. every now and then, we talked on aim about various projects. he probably deleted me a long time ago for asking for too many remixes
there's this one story i remember about nemo. it was probably all just a misunderstanding, but i was really sad. one day, nemo said he quits doing avs and he's now working as a janitor. i felt terrible when i read this, it sounded like this gifted person i hardly know (and respect for his work) throws away his future. i was really concerned! (if you read this, nemo, tell me i got it all wrong!)
today, i don't hear of nemo very often. i never see him online, but i sometimes check his blog. in fact, most i hear about nemo is via facebook. i take it he stopped making presets, but i don't know what he's into these days.
maybe this all didn't make much sense, maybe it sounded somehow gay, but watching those presets, reading those comments made me want to remind the (avs-)world of nemo. for sure you will have noticed what a bad writer i am, or why i never put those stories in my presets.
nemo, i wish you all the best.. wherever you are!

So, it's been a while since I last posted here and I don't even know if anyone of my old friends and followers will even get the chance to read this post. I don't plan to go into the details of the last 10+ years. Life just happened, as they say. However, for a couple of months some old AVS people have been hanging out in various chats and we have now found a new home on Discord. As you might have heard – there has been a bit of buzz – Jordan Eldredge's has reimplemented Winamp 2 in JavaScript. This project is know as Webamp, and includes a collaboration with the Internet Archive. Together the two also host the Winamp Skin Museum. Through all this, we got into touch with Jordan and have our own #avs channel on Discord. We primarily talk about the development of a new AVS version by @grandchild, but also about other, related projects such as now-abandoned Webvs. Either way, if you're interested or think you can contribute to one of these projects, feel invited to join us
The new VISBOT website
Alright, so here we are in late 2013. About ten years ago visbot (https://www.deviantart.com/visbot) was founded, and if my memory serves me well, the first release came out in February or March 2003. We had a bunch of shabby websites from early on, some revisions can still be viewed on Wayback Machine. Throughout the years, the layout changed a couple of times and so did the backend. But for a group of people busy in the visual field, our website had all been remarkably text-based. Sure, we had screenshots here on DevianArt, or on Customize, Winamp and some other sites that are long gone. It was possibly difficult for outsiders to get an idea of our craft, but that is abo

Yep, Nemo's big. I remember when i came to DA, there was one guy i had not heard of before to comment on any preset that comes out no matter how bad. Some people didn't take his criticism at first, but it was always constructive. So a big Hi goes to Nemo, who helped bring the quality of many people's AVS presets Up
