the great escape by yathosho the great escape by yathosho
all things must come to an end. working on this release since november 2003, i came to the conclusion that avs is not interesting for me anymore. when i look back, i enjoyed experimenting with effects, trying to come up with something new or unseen. this time i only focused on coloring and the use of convolution filters. do not worry, there might be small packs or even remix-collections in the future, but at this point i doubt anything else will see the light of day.

there might also follow a special edition of this pack, as i wanted it to have an intro, like both full circle releases. didn't work out as planned, not in the little time i had.

i hope you enjoy this!

wtf is this?
this is a collection of presets for the advanced visualization studio (avs). to view these, you will need a winamp 5 installation (full or bundle) including the avs plugin. once setup, download this deviation and follow the instructions of the installer. if you need help, have a look at this walkthrough.

You could have just thrown together a bunch of remixes and re-do's, as you have in the past. But this collection shows the growth over your own work in the past years. The colors are fast and bright and wonderfully put together. Excellent work there with the color maps. I saw lots of new things, which I wasn't expecting. Very fun, very impressive. Best of luck in the future.

I know you probably get a lot of idiots asking you this, but how exactly do you instal it? I've tried downloading AVSs before, and putting them in what I think is the right directory, but it doesn't seem to work.

wow can't believe i didn't comment on this pack. really enjoyed it, partly because i've been a fan of your work for quite a while, so i've 'developed a taste' for your presets, if that makes sense. my favs are

bitasweet
bored of canada
happy end
interieur
zuviel davon

congratulations, for this pack and many many others before this one. mandatory +fav

Excuss the net-trend-whore lingo but, w00t!! :(

Fucking hell, didn't see you leaving avs. Now, I only have the rip-off's of your excellent style to watch, it's never the same...

Still this is a kick arse pack to finish with, I love '2phuture', it reacts superbly to any form of good music and 'panton' goes superly with my shirt, and would work really well as an installation in any bar, same goes for 'turbo grafx' '81 without a doubt.

'bitasweet' has your trademark brilliant simpicity, but is supassed by 'happy end' imho.

'interieur' definitly deserves a mention, looks like supercool cell mitosis to me. 'lifecycles' seems definitly to be a fresh reinvention of your style.

Good luck in the future my friend, now get down club donna and have one on me.

Peace

zen-x

I'm back as i promised, so it's time for a long-ass comment :)
i love the varied look of the pack, i can recognise various designs from your different era's and some new flavors too :) the intense colors are great (even though i thought it would be darker according to the banner and the pack's title) 50/50 FXlist with ch. shift trick works well (even if its dragging down the FPS rate a bit)
the only (-) point is, that the pack should be bigger, but however that gives me the oppurtinity too make a preset-by-preset comment :

- 2 phuture - it kinda reminds me of some game :) nice bright colors too
- all night long - the only preset i dont like that much... more n00biens style than yathosho
- bitasweet - oh yeah baby! i love this one so much, i already made 4 remixes for it.
- bored of canada - looks like an installations preset... and i love those
- collini - yep, brokenframe strikes back... dont like the color combo too much
- happy end - sexay and new
- interiuer - looks like a cross between since then and installations..lovely. reminds me a bit of my cherry preset
- lifecycles - i love water+convo combos so...
- mobilee - ugh. i think this is a bit too bright for me :)
- nizza is nice too - one of my fav yath presets remade. I'm luvin' it (sorry for the cheap joke)
- nyc revisited pt2 - chaotick presets are my achilles-heel :) killer preset!
- panton - i really like the colors and the messiness of it
- pullin out this old tricks - hybridz feel...monochrome suits it well
- son of ptaah - cool, but the borders fuck up sometimes
- turbo grafx - this brings up some bad memories...turbo pascal *brrr*
- zuviel devon - bf to the bone, but i think i've seen this before

once again great work!

and on the topic of quitting...nah dont think so

I have to say there is some wonderful polish on these presets. Many of the presets have perfect lines and nice colour contrasts which I like a lot.

favs in this pack:

happy end
2phuture (i think this is the best one by a lot)
collini
mobilee
son of ptaah
nizza is nice too

didn't agree with me:
nyc revisited (day 2) - i never like static type presets... just not my thing
lifecylces - i would have liked this a lot more if you couldn't see the dot superscope so clearly and was a continuous pattern instead

+fav

hope you don't stop altogether, looking forward to seeing the occasional small pack or remix from you.
