as if the avs situation in general, and especially on deviantart, wasn't bad enough - it is now longer allowed to upload installers as it's been a standard for over 10 years.
i do understand the general security concerns over hosting executable files, but at the same time deviantart staff showed little interest to support available alternatives. for avs and milkdrop, the alternative are .pimp files, basically 7-zip files that can be interpreted as installers. unfortunately, deviantart's backend automatically renames those files to .7z and thus all the functionality from those files is being removed (unless you're aware you can simply rename the file back to .pimp)
unfortunately, the is little we can do. since the scene has been shrinking over the years, i don't see how we could find enough backers in a petition (or anything like that.) still, you
could try and spread the word about this by sharing the thumbnail in a journal entry. simply copy the thumbnail code on the left, and if you like add this text to it. there's also a forum discussion
that you can take part in!
