As a follow-up to the provocatively titled End of AVS, here are some good news. Thanks to $Moonbeam13 and the deviantart developers, it is now possible to upload .pimp files to the visualization galleries. This is probably the best results for both sides: AVS artists can still distribute an installable format while DeviantArt does not have to worry about corrupted executables.

Now, what does this mean for AVS artists? You might not have known, but for several years, PimpBot has produced two files:

1. an installer for distribution (.exe)
2. a project file (.pimp)

These project files contain all the data for the installer and can be loaded to (re)build an executable file. However, you can also install directly from a project file using PimpBot Runtime. That runtime has been part of the PimpBot distribution for years and it's also available as a single download. By default, these files are stored in a folder called "My PimpBot Files" (inside My Documents or maybe your DropBox folder.)

In future, you can upload these files to DeviantArt without running into problems. This also comes with two advantages:

1. acts like a standard installer through PimpBot RunTime
2. suspicious natures can simply use their unpacker to get to the content without having to install extra software
